You don’t have buy a ticket to Bolivia or Peru to enjoy a few days of bikepacking. Recently, Yonder Journal found themselves in New England for a quick stint in Connecticut and some extensive touring in Vermont, all guided by none other than UltraRomance. Dubbed the Mad Wikkid Bike Toouah, this trip took our heroes through country roads in the green mountain state.

All City’s Space Horse might be the most versatile (and popular) bike in their fleet. These speedy touring, all-rounder bikes have just received a few notable options, the first and most obvious being the integration of disc brakes. Other updates include a removable derailleur hanger and an expanded size range. The new Space Horse Disc comes available in size 43cm to 61cm, with 650b wheels in sizes in the two smallest sizes. Since it’s a disc brake bike, you could swap in your favorite 650b disc wheels in the other sizes too.

At first glance, this might seem like just another carbon fiber “all road” bike, but look closely and you’ll see Diamondback made some really clever and practical decisions on their newest touring model, the Haanjo EXP Carbon. First off, the 3×9 drivetrain. While it might not be as light as a 1x SRAM setup, it has the gear range you’ll need for extended dirt tours on steep roads. Next, the wheels. 27.5″ x 2.1 wheels offer plenty of ride-dampening for long days in the saddle. While the Haanjo EXP sports thru axles, it relies on cable-actuated disc brakes and barend shifters for both ease of repair and reliability. I’m liking what I see here. “Cherrapunji is a region of Meghalaya, India. It is a hilltop plain where the sun shines brightly and storms rumble deeply. It was where I went to wrap myself in a blanket while I dealt with the split of Dan and I’s journey. Believing that it was also the splitting of our relationship and coming to terms with what looked very much like failure.

Once I had started cycling I felt comfortable but also very much alone, like a phantom limb I missed a partner. But as I climbed up more mountaintops and became more confident in my own ability I found the positives of being alone. Cherrapunji is a short about finding enough courage to set out alone on a bike tour. In a broader sense it is about women who do something courageous!”
