In Stock For Now: The Radavist Edition Ombraz Dolomite Sunnies

In the coming year, we’ll be rolling out quite a few product collaborations we’re proud of, with the first being this Radavist edition Ombraz Dolomite sunnies. For those unfamiliar, Ombraz designs armless sunglasses that are virtually indestructible. Or, perhaps I should say, more robust than standard sunnies. Without arms, these glasses pack down flat, making them easy to store in a pocket, and since they rely on a cord to tighten, can be hung around your neck when not in use with ease. I’ve been wearing Ombraz since the brand’s inception and have been hooked, prompting this collaboration. Let’s check it out below.

Alba Optics: Delta Ultra Sunglasses

Radar

Alba Optics: Delta Ultra Sunglasses

Alba Optics, an eyewear company based in Italy, began when its founders looked for an original mold for sports shades from the 80s. Once they found it, they began producing sunglasses in Italy, starting with the Delta. A little while later, they took the Delta and refined it, offering wider, 360º panoramic views. This new lens is called the U-Lens and it offers a more streamlined silhouette. The frames are made from a material called Tr90, a hybrid material fabricated from nylon and carbon fiber, organically compatible and safe to the skin, even after prolonged use. It is 20% lighter than other conventional materials and it offers more protection against crashes.

So what are the Delta Ultra sunglasses for? Gravel? Road? MTB? Whatever you want. The Delta Ultra sunglasses come with a carrying pouch, retention straps, and retail for €179,00 with free shipping to the USA. See more at Alba Optics.

Some of John’s Favorite Products from 2020

If 2020 brought anything, it was an unexpected amount of time spent locally and at home. It feels like ages ago that we were spending seven months of the year on the road, traveling to events, races, and bike rides throughout the American West living out of our truck, grinding our morning coffee and cooking dinner under the stars. While it was and is a huge downer to be stuck at home with the Nation’s strictest Covid-19 restrictions, I cannot deny how much fun we had sticking to a radius close to our new home in the Land of Enchantment. While we didn’t do any month-long road trips, quick weekend jaunts provided plenty of inspiration as we familiarized ourselves with this beautiful state we now call home.

This year, a handful of products made my life easier in one way or another. Check out a quick list of some of my personal favorite products I used this year.

Oakley’s New Field and Flight Jacket Sunglasses

Oakley’s heritage with cycling runs deep and while there have been some super kooky (hey, in a good way!) designs over the years, their latest two additions offer vivid aesthetics, resulting from the brand’s ongoing attempt at making the best looking, best performing eyewear for cycling. Both the Field and Flight jackets were designed with ventilation and full-frame viewing, ideal for on and off-road riding. Head to your local Oakley dealer to check them out in person and to Oakley for more information and colors.

The Rapha Classic Sunglasses

I love it when Rapha does small projects like this. Especially when they’re made either in the UK or in the case of sunglasses, Italy. Mazzucchelli 1849 and Carl Zeiss Vision have created sunglasses for the luxury cycling brand and you know what? They look damn good. Oakley’s Prizm Trail Radarlock Path

Oakley’s Prizm Trail Radarlock Path

For the most part, I only wear sunglasses on the road, at least here in Austin anyway. With all the sharp, spiky plant life here, sometimes I’d force myself to wear eyewear but was never 100% content with it. I’ve always had an issue with how sunglasses read the splotchy light found in the woods on my local trails. It was either intense and white, or shaded and dark, leaving little to no middle ground or time to adjust and it was difficult to make out details.

A few of my friends here started wearing these Oakley Prizm Trail sunglasses and swore by them for trail clarity, so I picked up a pair. Sure enough, after wearing these glasses for a few rides, the difference was clear. Let me clarify that, they made a huge difference. Oakley achieves this through a material they call Plutonite and while it sounds like a marketing ploy, the performance backs it up incredibly well.
