Made from a heavier weight fabric than their famous Arm Warmers, the Leg Warmers feature a brushed back and secure zipper closure. They’re still lightweight enough to be removed and stowed in your jersey pocket.

NYC-based Search and State sources and produces its cycling apparel line from fabrics in Manhattan’s garment district. This week, they’ve commissioned photographer Nate Ryan to capture the ambiance of this unique neighborhood, hidden with the hustle and bustle of Midtown.

Search and State has printed out hundreds of on-the-road photos from Joseph’s trek out West to deliver a jersey to GSC. It’s going to be one hell of a party, so swing through TONIGHT!
If there was anyway I could be there, I would be! Search and State‘s NYC to LA trip looks like it’s been completely insane. Rider Joseph Holway has ridden for the past 20, some-odd days from the SAS factory in New York to Los Angeles to deliver a jersey. It’s a wild concept that has my interest piqued.
Los Angeles, head to GSC on the 1st of July and welcome Joseph, LA style. Get that man a drink and take him to Smoggy!

Two staples in any cyclist’s wardrobe are a good set of arm warmers and a solid vest. I’ve been using Search and State’s newest additions all throughout the winter and I’m sold. The S1-AW arm warmers are super soft, perfect for mid-ride snot wipes (you know you do it too) and make a perfect addition to the vest.
Like their riding jacket, the S1-V vest is made from a breathable, windproof and waterproof fabric. It’s durable, lightweight and black!

Without a doubt, green is a color of spring…
I’ve been a supporter of Search and State since I first caught wind of their operations in New York City. Their S1-A jersey is a staple in my daily rotation (see my older product review here) and now, the S1-S bibs have been providing me with comfortable rides on all my bikes. S&S’s line is minimally branded, made in New York City from technical fabrics and is far from your standard cycling apparel.
So far, I’ve logged about 10 rides in the shorts, washed them, hung them out to dry and even dried them on medium heat. They still look brand new and they hold their black dye. I know the price might seem a little steep, but bibs are something you’ll wear much more than a jersey. Plus, they’re each made by hand in NYC and domestic production is a little more expensive for a reason.
As far as fit is concerned, I’d rate their sizing a bit like a club cut. If you’re unsure which size to get, go down. I usually wear an medium or large in club bibs and XL in race cut. Here, I’m wearing a large and the fit is comfortable, without being restricting. What I’m most impressed with though is the detailing and how soft the fabric feels. That and they look great with any jersey…

There has been a huge push in American-manufactured cycling wear over the past few months and I’m very excited to see Search & State leading the charge. I wear the shit out of the Riding Jacket, especially while traveling and now they’ve just added Riding Shorts to their line. Also, don’t miss the new OD green jersey!

After their black S1-A riding jersey was such a hit, the guys at Search and State branched out into another tone: grey. These high-tech, lightweight jerseys are well worth their price tag. Up until it got super hot here in Texas, I was wearing mine every day. This new lighter tone should allow for year-round riding, even in the hottest of climates. A few months back, I read a piece on Headset Press about Search and State, a new cycling apparel line that has been in the works for over a year. Run by Devin O’Brien and Daniel Golden, these two were inspired by NYC and its fashion industry. With so many resources available to them, they’ve been building their brand through a mixture of in-house problem solving and constant PR&D. In celebration of their newly-launched website and products, I asked them to take photos of their facilities in order to give us an isight as to just how they make their apparel in NYC.
