We’ll be back at it tomorrow, so stay tuned for updates as usual. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want summer to go anywhere.

Made in the USA 40th Anniversary Specialized Allez to be Auctioned for WBR on September 8th
This looks so good. Here’s the scoop:
“Specialized Bicycles has been lucky to serve the greater cycling community by striving to produce products that and inspire to improve riders lives for 40 years. In the year of our 40th anniversary we simply want to say ‘thank you’ to the riders and give back to one of the best bicycle charities, World Bicycle Relief (WBR).”

Avery County Cycles: 1×11 Disc Cross Bike
Photos by Dave Lehl
Josh Culbertson from Avery County Cycles recently completed a gorgeous 1×11 disc cross bike for a customer. Like a lot of Josh’s bikes, there’s a story behind this one. The client’s grandparents worked for and collected Viking Snowmobiles in northwestern Minnesota, so you’ll catch insignia from Viking on the bike, as well as a Viking-inspired paint job.
Made from True Temper with internal routing and painted by Jordan Low, this lightweight steel bike has a mean stance and will stop just fine in whatever conditions you throw at it. For wheels, King R45D to carbon hoops were spec’d and built by Magnetic Wheel Co.

Jonathan’s Falconer Cross
The grass is good and dead here in Austin. That means cyclocross season is nigh. Jonathan recently relocated from Omaha to Austin, at the height of the summer heat, to replace the wrench of my buddy Chris at Mellow Johnny’s.
Even though it’s well over 100 degrees here, Jonathan’s Falconer cross bike scorches the ground it traverses. This thing is molten lava and the paint even matches the dried, dead grass. I think this might be one of my favorite bikes I’ve shot this year.
Accent points are the Chris King Mango bits, orange PAUL Minimoto brakes and a nice sparkle clear coat. My favorite detail however are the seat stays and Solid’s tapered head tube to match the ENVE fork.
I can’t wait to see this thing at the races this season!

Pre-Season Preparation at Richard Sachs

I pretty much wait all year to get this email. It’s short and simply reads;
“The bikes are ready. When can I expect you?”

Japanese Steel: A New Beginning
I always enjoy seeing articles and photos like this, and I’m sure you feel the same. Kinoko Cycles visited the Tokyo School of Cycle Design and the article looks great:
“During my last trip to Japan I was invited by Shin Ichi Konno of Cherubim Cycles to visit the Tokyo School of Cycle Design where he teaches twice weekly. You would assume with something as common as a bicycle, a object which exists in every village and town across the globe and requires very specific skills to design and manufacture, that colleges teaching cycle design would be common. But this is not the case.”

Elite
See, when you race for Richard Sachs, you get a racing bike, not a training bike, so sometimes, you’ve gotta make due. Here’s one of Dan Chabanov‘s new House Industries-designed Sachs cross bikes in “training” mode.

Cielo Introduces the Sportif Road
Cielo is really striving to make better bicycles, not only in craft, but in their use:
“The Sportif is a refined combination of our Sportif Classic and Sportif Racer. With the introduction of our Road Racer we felt that there was too much of an overlap between the Road Racer and Sportif Racer. This overlap gave us the opportunity to redesign our Sportif models to create a bike that combines the best aspects of our Sportif Classic and Sportif Racer into one bike that personifies the Sportif ideal.”

Baum Cycles: Neon Blue and Green Corretto Road Bikes
I love everything thing about these two bikes from Geelong, Australia’s Baum Cycles. We’ve seen the Baum process, but I didn’t touch on their photo studio, which is calibrated by one of the world’s premier photo calibration studios. They’re got their photo studio completely locked in, just like their bikes…

Brittlee Bowman’s House Industries Richard Sachs Team Cross Bike
With the 2014-15 cyclocross season ramping up and the House Industries / Richard Sachs show at Rapha NYC tomorrow, the guys at House just posted some exceptional photos of Brittlee Bowman’s team cross bike to up the ante.
My favorite part of this project: it’s a damn race bike! Not a showpiece. Well, tomorrow night it will be. Make sure you RSVP for the show at Rapha and see more details below.

Golden Saddle Rides: Jack Brown-Equipped ANT Townie
Photos and words by Kyle Kelley
This is what happens when you have the Jack Brown Blues…
These particular tires were bought by one of our customers for the Dirty Hundo earlier in the year. After the ride this customer decided he would never ride a bicycle on the dirt again. He sold his Cyclocross bike, but couldn’t let go of these magnificent tires. Next thing you know, he’s bought this ANT just to have a bicycle to put the tires on…
