Roll two from my last trip to SF was kinda all over the place. Terry from Full Frame Collective gave me a roll of expired HP5 and it ended up developing quite nicely. The photos enclosed in this gallery are as you’d expect from a weekend like RideNStyle. A lotta boozin’, late night cruizin’ and sightseeing. Enjoy.

This one comes from way back when we were all riding 23c or 28c tires, grinding on Milwaukee Bicycle Co Stout chainring guards and riding square taper cranks. It was that awkward and yet nostalgic time period where fixed gears and fixed freestyle bikes looks very similar. This was the second size large Brooklyn Machine Works Gangsta’ produced and at the time, I was grinning ear to ear when I got my hands on it. While there wasn’t really a fixed freestyle “team” for BMW, Joe had some great people riding and thrashing these bikes.
I dug these photos up while cleaning out a hard drive and thought I’d share. Credit goes to Sasha E for the shots because I was still firing away with a Casio pocket camera at the time….

Here’s the first few, of many to come from the 2012 Red Bull #RideNStyle weekend. Check out a few more below.
Compared to last year’s event, the 2012 Red Bull RideNStyle race track was a huge improvement. The lanes were wider, racers were required to use some of the fixed freestyle course and with the addition of two banks on the staircase, people were encouraged to gap the channel. Much as I anticipated, the competition came down to four racers.
In the end, it came down to Addison Zawada, Hern and Walton. Three strong racers, all out for it and the crowd was into it.

Damn Kim, how many track bikes and fixed gears do you have?! Just kidding. I’ve posted this one before and Kim states that this is his daily commuter. I’ve said it 1000 times: I miss my BMW.

I am so confused by this but I think it’s the best thing ever. Something to do with Luzhniki Olympic Complex? I don’t know, someone fill me in!
When I was in Brooklyn, this Surly Steamroller caught my eye one morning. The “battleship grey” models were my favorites and I always wanted one. This was before they got rid of the curvy stays and went onto the “poop brown” color that I had. Surly Steamrollers are still, to this day one of the best street fixed gears you can buy. Big tires, set up perfectly for SS CX and tough as hell.
This one however, was perfection. Gold Campagnolo BMX cranks, townie bars, big tires and from the looks of the empty Corona bottle, it’s an ideal party bike. Unfortunately, a rather surly truck driver parked in front of it before I could get a better shot of the pista cranks but so it goes.

I met Khalil while I was in Sydney a few months ago but I met this bike at the 2011 Philly Bike Expo. When he found out I was in Australia, he wanted to meet up and I offered to shoot some more photos of his Bishop flatbar fixed gear. It’s still in immaculate condition. Khalil takes it out when he can and rides the coastal roads with. You already know how partial I am to Chris Bishop’s work and this bike shows a different side to his work.

You might recognize this bike from the profile I did on Seth Rosko and Johnny Coast a few years back. The Atavistic Urge was a video Sara Kinney and I worked on, showcasing the two Brooklyn framebuilders. At the time, Seth had just gotten this bike back from paint and was anxious to build it up. Now, almost two years later, Seth’s been putting in miles on his bike. This simple street fixed setup is one to drool over, especially when it comes to that paint!
