Tom just sent over this photo of Ty blasting the box jump at Cross Vegas from a different angle. This shot gives you an idea of how long the run up was. So sick! Oh and Mr. Ghillie’s expression is priceless.

Marty at Geekhouse is probably the biggest Chris Chance fanboy out there. Somerville, Mass and its framebuilding community are forever in debt to Fat City Cycles. Little homages like this prove it! Man, I can’t wait to build this thing up!

Hey remember when every track bike video had excessive slow motion?…

Since my touring bike was stolen, the only bike that I’ve been riding around town is my track bike. I’ve been waiting for my Geekhouse team Mudville for what feels like an eternity. I miss having a bike with gears that I can ride around town and lock up (the Bishop has too much carbon). So when Marty posted this up this morning, my palms got sweaty. I can’t wait!

Let’s see, mine must be the really big one.

With the popularity of disk brakes on cross and (gasp) road bikes, it’s nice to see some made in the USA options available. That aside, I can’t get over how metal this looks. Like something out of ancient Alemannic imagery. Here’s the gist:

“Moment Industries has designed and manufactured rotors for the last seven years. They recently introduced the “Storm” rotor which is laser cut and manufactured in California. The Storm is offered in 160mm – 185mm – 203mm. Considering the majority of 2013 cyclocross bikes will come standard with 160mm disk brakes like the Marin Cortina (shown in the photo) this shift will allow riders to upgrade the components to better fit their style.

MOMENT brake rotors are forged from 410 series straight-chromium stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance, heat-treated to superior hardness at temperatures in excess of a 1000°F, then double disc-ground for guaranteed removal of imperfections.

If you’ve been following this blog for the past 6 years, you’ve seen me mention Razzle camouflage multiple times and if there is one cross team that could pull off a Razzle-inspired skinsuit during cross season, it’d have to be Geekhouse. Of course it takes an exceptional designer to pull it off, precedents and all. That’s why Marty enlisted Adria Klora to tackle the team kits this year, who also did the Golden Saddle Cyclery kits. ENDO‘s getting to produce some rad stuff this year!

All this Geekhouse razzle is coming to a race near you, just try to not stare directly into them or you’ll crash into a tree.

These are the types of posts I love seeing from Chris Bishop. I like to think of Chris’ work as detailed, with a purpose. While I’ve got nothing against builders who file down pedal cages and machine their own tail lamps, I really appreciate little nuances that make a bike function better, while adding a little aesthetic pulse of energy.

Chris cites Aaron Hayes from the late Courage Cycles as a precedent for this (something I wish the new jack builders would do – cite your sources), as an effort to stiffen up cantis and mini v’s. He even noticed an increase in stiffness while brazing this bridge booster in place.

That’s how some people do it. My photos from last night’s Cross Vegas came out so rad. But that’s mostly due to Ty and his antics. Dude was blasting the run up higher and longer than anyone else. So rad!
