Orbit 360’s rideFAR Cycling Challenge

Last year our friend and frequent contributor, Ryan Le Garrec, documented his participation in the Orbit 360 #rideFAR. The virtual event, which is a philanthropic DIY cycling challenge, is once again open for registration.

#rideFAR is about being social, with a fair degree of challenge. This challenge is not only about competition, it is about using the extraordinary distance, that we – as passionate cyclists – cover every year, for a good cause. The donation-based entrance fees will be used to support cycling-related non-profit organizations who pass on a piece of self-determination, freedom, and quality of life to others through mobility.

While the members of the Faradgang repair unwanted bikes and hand them out to people in need, Bikeygees offers cycling lessons for (refugee) women. Velafrica and World Bicycle Relief have a similar impact. Just on our neighbour continent. Their mission is to create access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in developing regions of the world where distance is a challenge through the power of bicycles. Last but not least, we will forward the donation to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund that supports humanitarian assistance in impacted communities in Ukraine and surrounding regions where Ukrainian refugees have fled.
