I was invited, along with Patrick from Pedal Consumption and Zach from Zlog, to be a judge in the new Leader and Trick Track give-away contest. The gist is you can win a new Leader frameset for submitting a picture of yourself doing a fixed gear freestyle trick. This should be good, so get your photographer buddies and your skills ready!

I’m going to start doing random contests like this. The rules are simple this time. Take a picture of your bike’s current, beat to shit bar-ends. The nastier the better and if they’re not plugged, that’s even more reason to do this.
The first two people to post their pictures in the comments get a free pair of MKE Nickel Bar Ends. You have to host your own images on Flickr or something similar. Use the embed code to place the image in the comments. Do not email pictures to me. Simply post them in the comments.
Now I’m sure there will be a lot of you, but the first two that come across the comment-approval form win them, as long as the criteria above is met. I’ll ship them out (hopefully) tomorrow morning before I hop on my plane to Tokyo. International readers welcome and US Nickels will be supplied.

An update on our dear friend Gabe:
Back in the early days of Gabe’s recovery—as in the initial two weeks—Anthony Maietta came to visit Gabe in the ICU of SF General. He is Gabe’s best and closest friend, buddies since age three. They’ve cavorted around the nooks and crannies of North Road in Winterport and pedaled to middle school nine miles away. Gabe was a groomsman at Anthony’s wedding last year. Aside from carrying the best friend title, Anthony builds custom bicycles, straight outta the heart of New England under the name MAIETTA. For those who haven’t heard the whisperings yet, we’re aiming for a certain rehab hospital in the New England area and upon hearing this, Anthony elected to donate materials and labor to host a raffle and build a bike for one very lucky ticket holder. 100% proceeds will go to bringing Gabe back to the East Coast on a very expensive and medically-required air ambulance flight.

Fundraiser for Gabe
Well, another Asphalt has come and gone. This time Hold Fast threw down some FRS and a t-shirt to two lucky guys from Washington State. Dayle Forness won the red straps and Andrea Kopp won the lavender. Both packages are in the mail, heading your way guys. Just in time for winter-riding.

As I mentioned earlier, for this edition of Asphalt, Laek House and Prolly is Not Probably teamed up with Brooklyn-based Hold Fast to give away not one, but two sets of Hold Fast FRS straps.

Ok it took some time between Japan and the Outlier crew being in Vegas for Interbike, but there is only one clear winner here. Tons of insane crotch blowouts, but damn Chunks, you are out of control. Here’s how to win:
– Find a pair of your jeans or any other pants you’ve blown out and leave a picture of it in the comments (see below for instructions).
– Definitely include any pants that have been sewn multiple times and just generally really destroyed.
– Tell us how long it took before your pants were blown out.
